I've had a varied and interesting life. When looking back to joining the Royal Australian Navy as a young 17 year old I could not have imagined the pathways my life was to take. Those pathways are still developing as I now embark upon life as an author and writer at a time when most retirees probably start to wind back. I believe that the life I've led has provided me with the experiences and knowledge to enable me to be a good writer and author. The navy taught me many things including the ability to be independent, demonstrate initiative, show leadership and have the courage of my convictions. There have been many mistakes along the way but also many adventures. The exhilaration of controlling military aircraft, hunting submarines and then instructing young sailors was a great start to my working life. This was followed by working in a family retail business, representing a major manufacturer in central Queensland and then as an airport firefighter. For a while a restless soul I became a port manager for a regional airline and started a new air service to Great Keppel Island. Following a transfer to Brisbane I left the company and operated a tourism cruise boat on the Brisbane River for thirteen years. Then a trip to Tasmania resulted in the purchase of an historic mansion, renovation and operation of a premier tourism accommodation and restaurant. Not content with my day job I also chaired a number of regional tourism organisations. During this time I also operated four wheel drive touring and fishing tours. Having ambitions to be a writer and author for many years my time in Tasmania offered me the chance to write tourism articles for newspapers, magazines and indulge in some photography. This honed my craft while I wrote several drafts of future novels which are now coming to fruition. I did publish a children's novel on Amazon in 2011 however I was more interested in the exercise of writing a story more than actually promoting it. A revision of that story will be a future project. In 2020, my first serious effort is Your Guest is as Good as Mine. This was followed by Just Cause, the first of the series of The Diaries of Nicholas Hood. The second in the series was launched in June 2023 Khameleon - Tsunami. The third in the series, Nicholas Hood - Jake's Awake will be out early in 2025 followed by another in 2026.

Stepping back into the world of espionage and MI6 was not what Nicholas Hood had intended. He thought that helping out his old KGB/FSB pal Dimitry with a problem could be a useful distraction. The problem was a 585ft hybrid warship. Singapore seemed like a relaxing place to start a new adventure with his wife Doctor Dianne Hood, living her dream of providing humanitarian aid to impoverished communities in south east Asia, and joined by Nick's ex CIA pal Tom Jordan. Then the call came from MI6 to do a job in Thailand. The CIA weren't going to leave Tom alone either. Life became complicated and sailing into unfriendly waters with pirates, rogue military officials, a world-wide pandemic and geological disturbances tested everyone on the Khameleon.
